When news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship broke at the end of 2016, every move they made afterwards was documented meticulously, with engagement rumours swirling around ever since. So, when Kensington Palace finally confirmed their intention to wed on November 27th, 2017, it’s no surprise that the internet nearly broke! Here’s what we know so far about the big day…
When and where will they tie the knot?
Harry and Meghan will say ‘I do’ at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on Saturday, 19th May. With only a few months to go, preparations are in full swing! The service will take place at noon and last 45-minutes. Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby will be marrying the couple, with the Rt Rev David Conner, Dean of Windsor, conducting the service.
What happens after the service?
After Harry and Meghan become husband and wife, they will parade through the streets of Windsor in a horse-drawn carriage. It’s expected that as many as 100,000 people will descend on the town in hope of catching a glimpse of the newlyweds. Their route will end by taking them through the castle’s Cambridge Gates for their reception at St George’s Hall. Prince Charles will host a party in the evening to celebrate the couple’s nuptials.
Who will be attending?
As St. George’s Chapel accommodates 800 people, there are expected to be around the same number guests. This makes it a much smaller affair than Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding, which took place at Westminster Abbey, with 1,900 guests. Amongst those who may be lucky enough to attend include tennis player Serena Williams, Barack Obama, and Meghan’s Suits co-stars Wendell Pierce, Sarah Rafferty and Patrick J Adams. This wedding is the hottest ticket of 2018 and it’s sure to be a star-studded affair. There’s also speculation over whether Donald Trump will receive an invite due to an American marrying into the royal family for the first time.
What wedding dress will Meghan wear?
Jessica Mulroney is hot favourite to be Meghan’s Maid of Honour. Her stylist-turned-BFF sidelines in styling bridalwear, making her the perfect choice to help Meghan select her dream wedding dress. Meghan has said in the past: “Classic and simple is the name of the game, perhaps with a modern twist.” She also said that the sleek, minimalist white dress worn by Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy back in 1996 was her favourite celebrity wedding dress. These are big hints as to what gown she might like to wear on her big day.
Who will be best man and bridesmaids?
William is expected to be Harry’s best man, although he may jointly take on the role with one of Prince Harry’s childhood friends. William has joked that he hasn’t yet been asked by his brother, and it’s possible that as he’s President of the Football Association, he might need to attend Wembley for the FA Cup Final later on in the day. Prince Charlotte and Prince George are likely to be flower girl and page boy, and it’s thought that Meghan will choose some adult bridesmaids from her friendship group. The most likely choices are stylist Jessica Mulroney and Priyanka Chopra – an Indian actress and philanthropist
